The Lagos State Police Command, through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), in collaboration with the Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has intensified efforts to combat drug abuse, cultism and other social vices by sensitising transport operators, traders and key stakeholders in the Apapa-Iganmu axis.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, the Area Commander, Area B Command, ACP Onyinyechi Onwuamaegbu, urged participants to reject all forms of criminality and embrace lawful behaviour.
She highlighted the crucial role transport operators and traders play in maintaining peace and security, encouraging them to work closely with the Police by providing timely and credible information and ensuring criminal elements are not given refuge within their communities.
The sensitisation programme, held at the Apapa Iganmu LCDA Secretariat, also featured goodwill messages from the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Divisional Police Officers and other stakeholders. Speakers unanimously stressed that tackling crime requires collective responsibility and sustained collaboration between security agencies, community leaders and residents.
The initiative forms part of POCACOV’s ongoing community engagement strategy aimed at preventing crime through awareness, education and partnership, while promoting peaceful coexistence across Lagos State.
