National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has appointed veteran journalist and media executive, Steve Nwosu, as his Spokesman, alongside Sani Takori as Political Adviser and VinMartin Obiora Ilo as Chief Technical Adviser (CTA).
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are aimed at strengthening Senator Dickson’s political operations, administration and strategic communications ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nwosu, a long-standing associate of Senator Dickson, is a journalist, media administrator, consultant and political communication strategist with more than three decades of experience across the print, broadcast and online media.
He is the author of the widely read satirical column, Frank Talk, which is syndicated across platforms, and has held several senior editorial positions at leading Nigerian newspapers.
A graduate of the University of Nigeria and Lagos Business School, Nwosu served in various capacities at The Guardian and ThisDay, including Features Editor, Political Editor, Editor of ThisDayStyle and Editor of ThisDay on Saturday.
He later joined The Sun Newspapers at inception as pioneer Editor of Saturday Sun, subsequently becoming Editor of Daily Sun, Executive Director, Corporate Services, and eventually Deputy Managing Director and Deputy Editor-in-Chief.
Nwosu later founded The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper and had a brief stint at Plus TV Africa as Controller of News. He is currently Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Edibofa Communication and Publishing Limited, owners of People’s FM 105.5 Abuja, People’s FM 93.1 Yenagoa, Universal Television Africa (UTV Africa) and The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper.
He also served for eight years on the Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, first as a member representing the West Zone and later as Treasurer.
Takori, who was appointed Political Adviser, is a lawyer and tested public administrator with extensive experience in law, politics and public service. He served as Registrar, Magistrate, Solicitor-General and Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Zamfara State.
He also represented his constituency in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 and served as the Zamfara State governorship candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) in the 2019 election.
A founding member of the NDC, Takori previously served as the party’s Protem National Secretary. He is from Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Ilo, the new Chief Technical Adviser, is a media executive, broadcast journalist and development and international relations expert with nearly four decades of experience spanning broadcasting, public service, strategic communication and development consultancy.
He began his broadcasting career with Radio Nigeria before joining Africa Independent Television (AIT), where he retired in 2013 as Director, Special Duties and South-East Operations.
Ilo also served as Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Enugu State and was a member of the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). Until his appointment, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Signature TV.
According to the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the three appointees bring considerable experience and expertise to their respective positions.
The statement said their briefs would cover Senator Dickson’s activities both as National Leader of the NDC and as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
