Dr. Rasheed Abbasi has offered advice to couples seeking to improve their sexual health or achieve pregnancy, highlighting the importance of timing, preparation and eating habits before intimacy.
According to Abbasi, couples hoping to conceive should pay attention to their sexual timing and avoid heavy meals, including swallow foods such as fufu, immediately before lovemaking.
The advice could resonate with many Nigerian couples, where swallow foods are common dinner choices, although there is no established medical evidence that eating fufu at night prevents conception.
Abbasi also stressed the importance of foreplay, adequate preparation and avoiding stress before sex, noting that these factors can influence comfort and sexual performance.
On the timing of intercourse for couples trying to have children, he recommended focusing on days 11 to 14 of the woman’s menstrual cycle, counting the first day of menstruation as day one.
However, ovulation varies from woman to woman, and these four days may not coincide with every woman’s fertile window.
For general health and prostate protection, Abbasi recommended sexual activity or ejaculation 18 to 21 times a month, citing research linking more frequent ejaculation with a lower risk of prostate cancer.
While some research supports an association between ejaculation frequency and prostate cancer risk, the recommended monthly frequency is not a medically established requirement for prostate protection.
His recommendations highlight the importance of understanding sexual health, fertility timing and lifestyle habits, particularly for couples hoping to welcome a child.
