Delta State Police Command has taken swift action on a viral video showing a woman alleging extortion by officers of the Jesse division. The woman claimed that DPO Jesse, Officer Bright, and Officer Usman extorted ₦2.5 million from her, promising to release her brother, Israel Onojeruo, from custody.
According to the command’s statement, the incident began on January 1, 2026, when the youth leader of Jesse community brought several suspects, including Israel Onojeruo, to the police station for allegedly selling a gun. The suspects were later transferred to the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) for further investigation.
Following the woman’s allegations, Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, ordered an immediate investigation by the AC X-Squad. The officer identified as Bright has been detained at the command headquarters, and DPO Jesse has been removed and redeployed pending the investigation’s outcome. This move follows multiple complaints of extortion and unprofessional conduct against the DPO.
CP Adesola assured the public that any officer found guilty will face disciplinary action under the Police Act and regulations. She emphasized the command’s zero-tolerance policy on extortion, intimidation, and unprofessional conduct.
