CP Kayode Ojapinwa, a seasoned police officer with decades of experience, has taken over as the 33rd Commissioner of Police, Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Lagos. Ojapinwa, who hails from Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18th, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Ojapinwa has served in various capacities, including Unit Commander Mopol 18 Squadron Owerri, Divisional Police Officer in Mushin, Alakara Itire, and Trade Fair Division, all in Lagos State Police Command. He has also served as Area Commander Gboko, Benue State Police Command, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Counter Terrorism Unit, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters Abuja.
Ojapinwa’s vast experience cuts across investigation, operations, and administrative capacities, and he has undergone various investigative courses, including Advanced Detective Course and CPTU. He has also served as Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House Abuja.
Upon assuming office, Ojapinwa charged officers and men of the unit to maintain high standards of professionalism, discipline, and intelligence-led policing. He thanked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for the opportunity to serve and called on the public to join forces against crime, promising to tackle fraud-related offences with strict professionalism.
