The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has pledged a firm commitment to discipline, accountability, and people-centered policing, declaring zero tolerance for misconduct within the Force.
Speaking during his maiden press briefing held at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Monday, Ojajuni emphasized that respect for citizens and adherence to the rule of law would define his administration.
He reaffirmed alignment with the policy direction of the Inspector-General of Police, stressing that “citizens are our bosses,” a principle he described as the cornerstone of his leadership approach in Ogun State.
Ojajuni warned that acts such as abuse of office, corruption, human rights violations, and incivility toward the public would not be tolerated under his watch. He underscored discipline as the foundation of policing, insisting that officers must demonstrate professionalism and respect for human dignity at all times.
To strengthen accountability, the CP announced a robust monitoring framework, highlighting the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) as a key channel for reporting police misconduct. He noted that the CRU, alongside the Gateway Shield App and the Police Control Room, would remain fully operational to receive public complaints and intelligence in real time.
He further disclosed that internal oversight units, including the X-Squad and the Police Monitoring Unit, would be reinforced to ensure strict compliance with professional standards.
“The few bad eggs will not be allowed to tarnish the image of the Force,” Ojajuni stated, urging both officers and residents to report wrongdoing through established channels.
The Commissioner also called for stronger collaboration between the police and the public, encouraging citizens to provide timely and credible information to aid crime-fighting efforts. He emphasized inclusivity, promising to work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, the media, and other security agencies.
Reassuring officers under his command, Ojajuni pledged to prioritize their welfare while charging them to embrace renewed discipline and unity in tackling security challenges.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to sustaining peace and ensuring a secure environment for all residents of Ogun State.
“Together, we will build a safer Ogun State,” he said.
