A controversial pastor in Anambra State has found himself at the center of a storm after security operatives arrested him over allegations of snatching married women from their husbands and turning them into his wives.
The cleric, identified as Pastor Harrison Charles, founder of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, was reportedly arrested by operatives of the state security outfit, Agunechemba, following public outcry and viral allegations against him.
In a development that has left many residents stunned, authorities reportedly discovered 11 babies in the pastor’s residence during his arrest.
According to a media aide to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, the pastor claimed that the babies belonged to him and were born by 11 different wives.
Even more astonishing, the pastor allegedly told investigators that he could not accurately state the number of wives he has married or the total number of children he has fathered.
The arrest followed a series of explosive accusations by former church members and relatives who claimed that the preacher lured married women away from their husbands, broke up homes and allegedly encouraged wife-swapping among some members of his congregation.
Social media has since been flooded with testimonies, allegations and emotional accounts from individuals who claimed to have been affected by the pastor’s activities.
Opara disclosed that the suspect has been handed over to the police and is currently being investigated in collaboration with the Anambra State Government.
Authorities have called on anyone with useful information regarding the allegations to come forward and assist investigators.
The case comes amid the ongoing crackdown by the Anambra State Government on fake pastors and other individuals accused of exploiting unsuspecting members of the public.
As investigations continue, residents across the state are eagerly awaiting the outcome of what is shaping up to be one of the most sensational religious scandals in recent times.
