The pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom following a successful rescue operation by security agencies.

The development was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on X.

“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” Onanuga wrote.

He also shared a video message from one of the rescued victims, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, Principal of Community High School, who expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and security operatives for their efforts in securing their release.

In the video, Alamu said: “President sir, our father, we are grateful. We understand your commitment to our safety and we appreciate all you did for us. And every security operative, they tried so much and that is why we are still alive by now. God bless you.”

The rescue followed coordinated security operations conducted by relevant authorities, according to information released on Friday.

The successful operation brought an end to the victims’ ordeal and reunited them with their families, drawing commendation for the security agencies involved in the rescue effort.
