The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of four Commissioners of Police to Plateau, Enugu, Nasarawa and Ondo states.
The commission said the postings followed a series of interviews conducted to assess the officers’ fitness and suitability for their new assignments.
The deployment was announced on Thursday at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, PSC Headquarters, Abuja.
The affected officers are CP Sunday J. A. Okoebor, posted to Plateau State; CP Fidelis Ogarabe to Enugu State; CP Sheikh Mohammed Danko to Nasarawa State; and CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola to Ondo State.
Before their new appointments, Okoebor served as Commissioner of Police, Police Accounts and Budget, Force Headquarters; Ogarabe was CP, INTERPOL Annex, Lagos; Danko headed the Force Intelligence Annex, Lagos; while Babalola served as CP, Special Inquiry, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, who was represented by a board member, retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, said the postings were in line with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the commission to appoint Commissioners of Police for each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
Argungu said the officers were found worthy in learning and character following the interviews conducted by the commission.
He charged the newly deployed commissioners to remain impartial and live up to the expectations of their new offices.
He also urged them to demonstrate professionalism, integrity and fairness in the discharge of their responsibilities.
