The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered and sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly used to produce and package adulterated alcoholic drinks in Yafin, Badagry.
The operation followed information from members of the public and led to the arrest of a 48-year-old suspect, Anaebo Emeka Hilary.
Police said operatives recovered suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, wine labels and production utensils allegedly used in the operation. The suspect was taken into custody, while the recovered items were moved to the station as investigations continue.
The development came days after the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) busted another suspected fake fruit juice production facility in Badagry and arrested two suspects. The discoveries have raised further concerns about illegal food and beverage production in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to credible information.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations against criminal activities across the state and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
