ABC, GIG buses heading to Abuja hijacked, passengers abducted

Suspected gunmen have hijacked two luxury buses heading to Abuja from eastern Nigeria and abducted some of the passengers. According to a police source, the buses belonging to God Is Good (GIG) Motors and ABC Transport were attacked along Lokoja, Kogi State.

As of press time, the driver of the GIG, Godwin Oniovosa, has been reportedly rescued.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP William Aya, who confirmed the incident, stated, “Yes, the incident happened on the Eteke Ogugu new road in Olamaboro, but the DPO, local vigilantes, and hunters have been in the bush in an effort to rescue the victims.

“CP has deployed an additional tactical squad consisting of the Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, and Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional police personnel, to the area to continue with the bush combing and to ensure all victims are rescued unhurt.”
