Abia FRSC cautions road users on over speeding, unsafe tyre, lists new driving rules

The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps,Abia State has cautioned road users to avoid speeding ,over loading and use of unsafe tires inorder to arrive their destination alive.

Commander Paul Ikechukwu Ugwu made this statement while addressing newsmen in his office.
He said ,”there is no spirit controlling Ember month,it is our unsafe behavior and environment that causes accidents”.

He further said,”Ember month is full of activities and a lot of vehicular movement, we have started in earnest with public enlightenment via radio. We have done church advocacy ,we have gone to the market and also to motor parks which are the key road users.
He said the purpose of this advocacy and enlightenment is to educate people on what is expected from them with regards to road usage.

Speaking on road safety enforcement strategies this Ember month, Commander Paul revealed that line red flags will be put up in strategic points on the road to tell over speeding members to slow down and also that display of wares for sale on the road is seriously advised against.

He further revealed that the enforcement of traffic control and road safety rules will be done as they intend collaborating with military and para military outfits in Nigeria ,and that also mobile court will be used to achieve this.

On use of safety tires,he stated that the use of Belgium tires are not encouraged by the Road Safety Commission Corps ,as they are unsafe.

Finally he noted that life has no duplicate and advised road users thus: ” be patient and allow other person to pass before you go,
get fire extinguisher, obey zebra crossing, use round about, always give way to traffic on your left, and avoid indiscriminate parking .
