The Governor of Abia Stare ,Dr Alex chioma Otti has charge batch B National Youth Services Corp (NYSC) members to contribute to the human capital and physical development of the communities they are posted to.

The Governor who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor ,Ikechukwu Emetu, made this statement in his speech during orientation course closing ceremony for the 2024 batch B Corps members.
He said “You are encouraged to welcome your posting with an open mind and a willingness to acquire new experiences, contribute to human capital and physical development of the communities you are posted to “.

Governor Alex Otti, encouraged the corpers to make a difference wherever they go and implored those posted to schools not to exploit students or lead them astray but rather be role models to them.
He informed them that Abia government has the culture of rewarding excellence which comes inform of automatic employment and revealed that corpers may be included in the next batch that will benefit from the states cooperative support scheme which presently disbursed funds to nano and micro entrepreneurs who are expected to invest funds they had received to the growth of their business.
On the welfare of NYSC family in the state Dr Alex otti said”for your welfare,my office shall work closely with the ministry of sports and youth development and other agencies of government to identify where and how often we can intervene”.
He however announced that the State Government has evaluated the extent of work to be done to get the structures and facilities at this orientation camp back in good shape and said” I am pleased to inform you that renovation and rehabilitation work will be kicking off soon; we shall start with the most critical areas, especially the residential halls, kitchen and recreational facilities; the residence of the State Coordinator will also receive attention because we are committed to the welfare of the NYSC family in the State.
On security,he assured them that their security in every part of the state is guaranteed as he has directed security agents to make sure their eyes and ears are never removed from their place of gathering.
Earlier in her welcome address at orientation course closing ceremony for batch B stream 1 corps members,the State Coordinator NYSC Abia ,Barr(Mrs) Gladys Adama appreciated his excelleny Dr Alex otti for being a youth loving Governor who is always willing to accord the NYSC scheme all necessary support. She also appreciated him for the recent directive for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of facilities in the camp and NYSC Secretariat.
Barrista (Mrs)Gladys in her words while addressing the Governor said “I wish to inform you that these crop of corps members have proved themselves to be good ambassadors of the scheme and of the nations as they have painstakingly listened and accepted all instructions given to them by officials.
She urged the corpers to accept their postings in good faith and advised them to think of how to put into effective practice the knowledge they acquired in their various institution of higher learning and also during orientation”.
She also charged them to embark on viable community development service project in their places of primary assignment.
The State Coordinator NYSC Abia, on the other hand appealed to all corps employers to accept them as they resume in their places of primary assignment and integrate them into their operational system as well as provide them with enabling environment needed to perform creditably.
Highpoints of the event was the inspection of guard of honor by the Deputy Governor and slow and quick timing parade by the corpers while Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, received the salute.
Some dignitaries that attended the event included Commissioner for youth and sports,Mr Nwaobilor Ananaba,Commander 14. Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier O.O Diya represented by lieutenant colonel A.A Adebayo, Commissioner of Police,CP kenechukwu Onwuemelia represented by ACP Stanley Imo and Mayor of Bende LGA,Mr Chijioke Nwankwo.
