Alhaji Jubril Mohammed, the Nasarawa first-class Emir of Gurku, and his wife were kidnapped around 10 p.m. on August 6, 2023.

Confirming the incident, Nasarawa State Police command spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, reported that the gunmen had broken into the Emir’s palace, which is 10 kilometers from Gurku, the state’s capital.

According to Nansel, the State Commissioner of Police, Baba Maiyaki, has since deployed a team of police officers and vigilantes to the area to track him down and rescue him.

Nansel continued by saying that although the nearby bushes and mountains had been searched, no luck had been had in finding them.
