Emefiele secretly released from Kuje

The former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, has perfected his bail conditions and is now a free man.

The Federal Capital Territory High Court has earlier remanded him in Kuje prison.

Emefiele is standing trial on an alleged procurement fraud. The trial which had been stalled on three occasions finally held some weeks back.

 

The Federal Government had initially preferred 20 charges on procurement fraud to the tune of N6.5bn against the former CBN governor.

According to sources Emefiele was secretly released from kuje prison around 3pm today 22/2/2023 after fulfilling his bail conditions.

Emefiele was said to have earlier opted to stay inside Kuje when he got information that EFCC was plotting to re- arrest him again.
