A female banker in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has committed suicide.
The deceased, 32-year-old Amarachi Ugochukwu, was said to have drunk an insecticide.
According to The Punch, the incident happened on Monday within the premises of the bank.
Ugochukwu had around 1pm made her way into the restroom, where she drank the insecticide, unknown to her colleagues.
Other members of staff had started looking for her when the phone she left on her table kept ringing and she was not around to pick the calls.
Ugochukwu was later found dead inside the toilet with the bottle of insecticide and her suicide note.
In the suicide note trending online, the lady blamed hard economy for her decision to end her life, saying nothing was working well for her.
“Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore,” she wrote in the suicide note.
Ugochukwu apologised to her parents and other members of her family in the suicide note.
“I’m sorry mum, I’m sorry dad, I’m sorry Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya,” she added.
She concluded by writing, “Dear Lord, have mercy on me!”
It is becoming easy for youths to get frustrated and depressed, then “take self off”!! We must arrest and address this issues now. While Govt has her blames, we (including the Victims) all have ours faults too!! Problem shared is half solved!! The future holds good tidings. Things might be very bad, but go to Google to check the cheapest Counties to live in Africa. We can survive. That is the Nigerian spirit. Dogged determination! WE ALL GOT PROBLEMS, BUT THE MAGNITUDE DIFFERS. SO, YOU ARE NOT ALONE HERE!! THERE VERY KIND HEARTED PERSONS AMONG NIGERIANS!! A STUDENT AT A UNIVERSITY LOST HIS DAD AND HAD AN HEART OPERATIONS TO PAY AND HIS SCHOOL FEES TO PAY, WITHIN A WEEK OF SPEAKING OUT, CO-STUDENTS CONTRIBUTED DOUBLE OF THE AMOUNT NEEDED!! NOMATTER HOW COMPLEX OR TOUGH YOU THINK YOUR SITUATION IS, TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT IT. DO NOT KILL YOURSELF. WE MUST ALL LEARN TO “CUT OUR EXPENSES TO THE LIMITS OF OUR POCKETS”!! NEEDS SHALL CONTINUE TO BE UNLIMITED, WHILE RESOURCES HAVE REMAINED SCARCE FROM TIME IMMEMORIAL!! TELL ME OR SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU ABOUT “THAT ISSUES””.
