Gov. Wike to give N220million to 11 slain policemen

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has promised that the state will give the sum of N20 million to the families of each of the 11 Police officers killed by gunmen during recent attacks of Police check-points and formations in the state.

Wike made the promise when he visited the Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, and officers of the state’s Police command yesterday.

The Governor while commiserating with the command over the loss of its gallant cops charged the Police to go all out and fish the perpetrators of the wicked act, and bring them to justice.

He also expressed sadness over the fact that the victims who are the heads of their home are no more. He condoled with the victims family, promising to give 20 million to each one of them.

He acknowledged that though the money could not equate human lives, his gesture was aimed at making the pain less severe for the bereaved families.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Friday Eboka thanked the Governor for a relieving the pains of the bereaved families.

He also used the opportunity to reassure the good people of Rivers State that such attacks will not  dampen their resolve to continue to protect their lives and property.
