The Delta State Police Command has successfully dismantled a suspected kidnap syndicate in Issele-Uku, rescuing three abducted victims unharmed and recovering an AK-47 rifle after a fierce gun battle with the criminals.
The operation followed a kidnapping report received at the Issele-Uku Police Division on March 16, 2026. Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aderemi Badiru, led a coordinated search-and-rescue mission in collaboration with the military, local vigilante groups, and hunters to comb identified criminal hideouts in nearby bushes.
During the operation, security operatives engaged members of the kidnapping gang in a gun duel. One of the suspects was fatally wounded in the exchange, while the three kidnapped victims were rescued safely and later reunited with their families.
Police said further combing of the surrounding bush led to the arrest of a suspect identified as Ahmadu Hassan, 22, from Kange Village in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. Hassan, who sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter, was apprehended at the scene.
Security operatives also recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition from the hideout.
According to the Police, the injured suspect is currently receiving treatment under custody while investigations continue. Authorities have also intensified efforts to track down other members of the gang who fled during the gun battle.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Aina Adesola, commended the bravery and collaboration among security agencies and local groups involved in the operation.
He reiterated the command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks across the state and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
