Delta State Police Command has declared a middle-aged man, identified as Stanley Overmureye, who allegedly smashed his 6-year-old daughter’s head against the wall multiple times, which led to her death.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the unfortunate incident occurred on June 15, 2024, at Uviama Layout in Agbarho, Ughelli North local government area of Delta State. Since then, the suspect has been at large.
The suspect’s brother was said to have reported the incident to the police, leading to the discovery of the child’s lifeless body with multiple head injuries.
In a statement issued on behalf of the state’s commissioner of police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the command expressed deep sorrow over the heinous act and ordered an intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspect.
The CP also assured the public that the suspect would be apprehended and justice would be served.
