The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another alleged fake government agency operating within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
Following the discovery, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of the alleged promoter of the agency.
The ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The agency, identified as the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office, was allegedly operating from an office allocated within the OSGF without presidential authorisation.
According to the ICPC, preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged promoter, George Buchi Nwabueze, had operated under different variations of his name and was suspected of having collaborators within the government establishment.
Following the ICPC briefing, President Tinubu directed security agencies to immediately arrest Nwabueze for further investigation.
The President also ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries — M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah — pending the outcome of investigations.
The latest discovery comes amid the commission’s ongoing investigation into the alleged fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and concerns over how unauthorised organisations gained access to government offices and official structures.
The ICPC said investigations are ongoing and that further arrests or administrative actions may follow as more facts emerge.
The commission reiterated its commitment to exposing fraudulent activities, protecting public institutions and strengthening accountability within the Federal Government.
