The Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspects and recovered three stolen vehicles in separate operations targeting motor vehicle theft across Kano and neighbouring states.
The operations, conducted between October 8 and 9, 2026, led to the recovery of a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Hiace minibus and a Mitsubishi Canter truck, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

In the first operation, police recovered a 2010 Toyota Corolla allegedly diverted by a man entrusted with selling it on behalf of its owner, Aminu Yahaya of Darmanawa Quarters.
The vehicle was recovered in Katsina from a man identified as Sulaiman, who claimed to have bought it for N7.5 million. Police said investigations were ongoing.
In a separate incident, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad arrested two suspects, Abubakar Umar, 23, and Mustapha Zubairu Abdullahi, 25, over the alleged theft of a white Toyota Hiace minibus from Singer Market on October 5.
The vehicle, with registration number NSR 261 XB, was traced to a remote location in Mariri Magadawa, Kumbotso Local Government Area, where it was recovered.
In the third operation, operatives of Ungogo Police Division arrested Abdullahi Adamu, 40, from Potiskum, Yobe State, while he allegedly attempted to have a stolen Mitsubishi Canter truck repainted at a garage in Kadawa Quarters.
Police said the suspect confessed to stealing the truck from Dan Baba Garage in Potiskum. The command has contacted the Yobe State Police Command to facilitate further action and reunite the vehicle with its rightful owner.
The police said all four suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved for their professionalism, prompt response and use of technical intelligence.
He urged vehicle owners to exercise caution when parking their vehicles and entrusting them to others, while encouraging the public to report suspicious activities and attempts to sell vehicles at unusually low prices.
Residents can report emergencies or suspicious activities through the command’s lines: 08032419754, 08123821575 and 09029292926.
