Lagos to open special market for cheap food, lists measure to reduce hardship

Certain categories of civil servants are now to be at work three times in a week from next week.

This was announced by the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, when he spoke to Lagosians on Thursday.

In a live interview broadcast on some television stations, Sanwo-Olu said civil servants on levels 1 to 14 will be at work only three times a week.

He said other categories, including teachers, will get other forms of support to be at work five times in a week.

He said this measure and others to be adopted by the government is to ameliorate the hardship in the country.

Sanwo-Olu equally announced a 25 percent cut in the cost of transportation beginning from this weekend.

He said the state was also awaiting 300 trailer loads of foodstuff, adding that modalities had been out in place to ensure the items get to those who really need them.
