Over the weekend, the social media space was awash with verbal war between two northern female socialites, who the former Chairperson of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina was expressing love interest.
Maina is currently serving an eight-year sentence following his role in pension fraud.
The socialites, Sadiya Marshall, a popular commentator and businesswoman was alleged to have lashed out at Laylah Othman, an Abuja-based social commentator and entrepreneur over a conversation she had with Maina during one of her visits to Kuje correctional center.
Offended by the outcome of the conversation, Sadiya took to social media thing to rant. Among other things, Sadiya alleged that Laylah, who is married to Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the House of Representatives, in 2023, has a series of secret relationships.
Days later, Sadiya was later arrested and later released on bail. She immediately apologized to her friend, Laylah, citing emotional issues as the main reason she referred to Laylah as prostitute.
Sadiya’s outburst
In the 13-minute video recorded in Hausa, and published on Premuim Times. Sadiya warned Laylah to steer clear of her and stop talking about her in her conversations.
“I have heard what you said, and you said I am troublesome. Let me tell you, and open your ears wide. Never did you call my name or any family member in any of your waffles from today. You know I know who you are and all your secrets. I will expose you to the world if you try me again. Who do you think you are? Calling me a troublesome person did not sit well with me, and I am warning you to seal up your mouth, or I will expose you to the world.
“You started by brainwashing young girls not to respect their husbands and to be feminist in their dealings. You also lied that you will not marry a married man again in many of your interviews on social media. Yet you married a family man now, a member of the House of Representatives.
“You think we don’t know why you married him. We know it is about his money. And you have the plan to divorce him when he leaves office. I know all your boyfriends and what you do to them.”
Sadiya accused Laylah of sending ‘nude’ pictures and videos to some of her boyfriends in Abuja, claiming they were in her (Marshal’s) possession.
“I have your videos, photos, and even audio conversations of what you do and what you tell people about me. They record and send it to me. If you speak again, I will expose you and tell the world who you are. I want you to know that I was the one who recommended Abdulrasheed Maina, who was at Kuje prison in Abuja, to patronise your restaurant.
“That they should buy food for him from you. I know all your hidden and dangerous escapades, all your boyfriends. You hide under your restaurant to pretend that is where you make money from. That is a lie, and we know what you are doing.”
Sadiya also said that her friend had a false identity.
‘‘I dare you to deny changing your name from Hauwa Ali to Laylah Othman. That was your reality, but you changed it because you are not proud of yourself and your family.”
What Maina told me
Laylah in a voice note sent to one of her relatives, she threatened to sue Sadiya the sum of 1billion if she fails to retract her statement.
“She met the lady twice, in Saudi Arabia in 2017 and saw her with a daughter. She even thought that it was her daughter but later discovered its her niece. She even gave money to that daughter in Saudi Arabia. They met again once in Nigeria. She is surprised that she will make such allegation that is completely false. She said she came to meet Maina once in Kuje and she came purposely because of her restaurant business. She was told that Maina will like to give her contract to supply food for himself and some other VIP’s in Kuje. She came and at the end of the day, she got the contract to supply only Maina. Maina assured her that he will get other people to be buying from her so that she will be supplying them food daily. Since then, she left, she has never spoken to Maina again, she only received a text once that he told her that the salt is much in the food that she is bringing recently.
She alerted the workers to adjust. She said even when Maina needed some changes, he uses to communicate through his daughter.
She claimed that Maina were trying to tell her the first time that they met that he likes her and will like to marry her but she told Maina that she cannot marry him because she has someone on ground that she was planning marry.
There is nothing between her at Maina, no communication, exchange of picture or exchange of messages. There is no audio between her and Maina, if there is any evidence, let Sadiya provide. Immediately her husband heard about it, he was furious and reported the matter at DSS.
Sadiya was arrested and detained. She has no husband, she as lying in the video that she is married. When the girl was detained, no one came for her, she confessed and begged for forgiveness that she has no evidence. She is not normal, that she is having some issues mentally, that was the reason. That she will never do it again. Layla threatened to follow the matter up to the court and claim damages on what she has done, she said the girl has tarnished her image.[i]
She called her adulterer, that she also told the world that the restaurant that she is running that she used to put jazz to the food to trap customers. This is an attack on her person and business. She said that she will pursue the case to the later. She has been released to the uncle and all paper has been served to her to go and publicly apologize and retract everything she has said that everything is a lie. If she can do that, they will not follow the matter up or claim damages. Since she claims that she has a lot of money, paying one billion will not be a big deal for her.

Obviously sobber and seeking fast way-out Sadiya in an audio pleaded with her estranged friend to forgive her as she did not investigate what she heard from Kuje about her,
“I am not supposed to react like this, no matter how the thing happens. I am supposed to control my emotions and speak to my friend.
“I was provoked and I am only human. I got mad after trying to reach her for two days and she was not picking my calls. I should have been patient. She is a married woman and it is wrong to say such bad things about her. I am sorry for what I did which is very bad. I am apologizing to her and my family. I am sorry.” She stated parts in Hausa,
