The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has deported 400 Nigerians, comprising 90 females and 310 males, who arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Friday. This comes after 103 Nigerians were deported from Turkey, raising concerns about the increasing number of deportations.
The deportees were received by various federal agencies, including the office of the National Security Adviser, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, NAPTIP, NEMA, and other stakeholders.
The Federal Government has urged calm in response to the recent deportations, as officials facilitate the arrival and ensure the welfare of the deportees.
In a related incident, 264 Nigerians had their visas canceled upon arrival at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 13, 2023.
No official statement has been released by the UAE or Turkish authorities explaining the reasons behind the deportations.
