A retired Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Isiagu Joseph, is speaking out after being allegedly assaulted and shamed by a serving police inspector over his commercial bus business in Lagos. The incident occurred on January 8, 2026, at a bus stop in Alausa Secretariat, where the inspector reportedly insulted and beat Joseph, calling it an “insult to the force” for a CSP to drive a ‘korope’ (commercial bus).
According to Joseph, the inspector, who remains unnamed, has a history of aggressive behavior, having previously blocked and insulted him on multiple occasions. Joseph showed the inspector his ID card, but the abuse continued, with the inspector ordering his colleagues to remove the plate number from Joseph’s vehicle.
The inspector and his team allegedly beat Joseph, dragged him out of his vehicle, and seized his keys. Joseph reported the incident to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, but the inspector is yet to be identified or punished.
Joseph is calling for action against the inspector, stating that his pension is insufficient to support his family and that driving the commercial bus is his only means of survival.
