The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday intensified efforts to strengthen public safety as it convened a high-level security stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, alongside the presentation of ₦53.3 million to families of officers who died in the line of duty.
The event, part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, brought together an array of stakeholders, including community and religious leaders, youth representatives, and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), all aimed at deepening trust and collaboration between the police and the public.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai , underscored the critical role of synergy in tackling insecurity. He highlighted cultism and electoral violence as key concerns, assuring residents that the Command remains committed to intelligence-led policing and the deployment of technology to enhance crime-fighting operations.

Fatai also stressed the importance of timely responses to distress calls and sustained partnerships with communities to maintain peace and order across the state.
In an emotional segment of the programme, cheques totaling ₦53,387,209.48 were presented to families of fallen officers under the welfare scheme of the Nigeria Police Force. The gesture served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by officers in active service.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support, noting that the financial assistance would go a long way in easing their burdens.
Reaffirming the Force’s commitment, the Commissioner assured that the bravery and sacrifices of fallen officers would never be forgotten, pledging continued support for their families.
The event reinforced the Police Command’s resolve to build a safer Lagos through inclusive engagement and proactive security strategies.
