Operatives of Delta State Police Command has arrested more than 100 suspected homosexuals accused of being involved in a gay wedding in the state.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, paraded the suspects at the police headquarters in Asaba on Tuesday morning, August 29.
According to him, the suspects were allegedly holding a gay wedding at a hotel in the state, when they were apprehended.
The police said they received a tip-off about the wedding ceremony and raided the hotel.
Homosexual relationships are illegal in Nigeria and punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
The bill outlawing gay relationships and same-sex marriage in Nigeria was assented to in 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
