The Lagos State Police Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a driver of a Car Dealer company simply identified as Lawal.
The victim who is also a staff of Cedric Masters Limited was said to have been killed on August 18, 2023 by suspected soldiers who made off with his car after dumping his body by the roadside.
According to sources, Lawal was on his way to deliver a brand new 2022 Toyota Corolla from Lagos to Abuja when he was accosted by soldiers at a military checkpoint along the Ojodu Berger area of the state.
The soldiers, for reasons best known to them, arrested him and claimed that they were taking him to their barracks for further questioning. They allegedly took him to a deserted area at Iyana Ipaja, killed him, and threw away his body in the bush.
Luckily, the eyewitness was able to help the police identify the three suspected soldiers involved in the act.As of press time, the state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hyundeyn, is yet to confirm the incident, but a source at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, confirmed the incident.
The source, who prefers to remain anonymous, said that the commissioner of police, Idowu Owohunwa, has ordered that a proper investigation be done and the culprits brought to face the wrath of the law.
