Unknown gunmen kill DPO, Inspector in Imo

Suspected gunmen have killed the Divisional Police Officer of Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo, SP Magnus Abalu, and one inspector of police.
According to police sources, the deceased DPO and his team were attacked today, Monday, while at Boek Petrol station in Ahiazu Mbaise, waiting for the arrival of the state commissioner of police, Danjuma Aboki at the scene where Imo Monarch, B. Ochiulor was recently killed.
CP Danjuma Aboki and Army Brigadier Commander Obinze Barrack were heading to the troubled zone on a spot assessment and possible visit to the family of the murdered monarch.

According to an eyewitness account, the gunmen who stormed the area on a black Toyota Venza and a motorcycle shot and killed the DPO and one inspector, Nwanchor Ikechukwu. The gunmen also fled with their rifles.
It was further learned that a tactical team comprising the police and army has commenced a manhunt for the killers while their bodies have been deposited at the nearest morgue.
