A Lagos hotelier, Mr A O Akinyele, on Saturday slumped and died during his wife’s 60th birthday celebration at an event centre.
The tragic incident was said to have occurred in the Egbeda area of Lagos State.
A trending video showed Akinyele leading praise on pulpit when he suddenly slumped.
Attempts made to revive him were unsuccessful, leading to his being rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
One of the guests at the event who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the hotelier had earlier called his wife, Mrs. Catherine Akinyele and whisper into her ear, with a sign that he needed to drink water. Shortly after the man slumped.
It was gathered that Akinyele had unveiled a brand new Toyota Highlander he bought for his wife at the event.
