A UK-based Nigerian woman has revealed why she would never return to live permanently in Nigeria, even if offered £15 million, saying the decision has nothing to do with money.
Speaking in a viral interview, the Ogun State indigene recounted the heartbreaking loss of two children in separate incidents, which she attributed to alleged medical negligence in Nigeria.
“I lost two children to medical negligence. Back to back in two years,” she said, adding that the painful experience is too emotional to fully discuss.
She also said her son is alive today because he was born in the United Kingdom, where he received prompt medical care that she believes may not have been available in Nigeria.
“If my son was back in Nigeria, he would have died also. But because I had him here, there was medical attention. They did what was needed to be done and he’s fine,” she said.
The interviewer repeatedly increased the hypothetical offer—from £200,000 to £15 million—but she remained firm.
“You can’t even pay me enough to go back.”
Her emotional account has sparked widespread conversations online about Nigeria’s healthcare system and the need to improve access to quality medical care and accountability.
