The Nigeria Police has begun disciplinary proceedings against 167 senior officers over alleged misconduct and breaches of professional standards.
The cases are being reviewed by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The committee is responsible for handling disciplinary matters involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal accountability and enforce discipline within the Force.
The FDC is expected to examine each case thoroughly and make recommendations to the Police Service Commission, which has the authority to take final decisions on disciplinary actions.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to professionalism and integrity, stressing that any officer found guilty would face due process without protection.
He added that the proceedings form part of broader reforms aimed at improving internal control mechanisms, promoting ethical conduct, and restoring public confidence in policing.
The police said the move underscores its resolve to uphold accountability and ensure officers adhere to the core values of the profession.
