A high chief in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, identified simply as Chukwudi, has been invited by the police following allegations that he threatened the life of a retired senior police officer, Mr. Daniel.

Mr. Daniel, an indigene of Ogidi, is said to be involved in a protracted land dispute with the chief, a matter that has reportedly remained unresolved for more than 25 years.

According to sources familiar with the situation, tensions escalated when the chief allegedly issued a two-day ultimatum to the retired officer, demanding that he vacate the disputed land or face unspecified consequences.

Investigation also suggest that within the community, indigenes are generally discouraged from reporting disputes to the police unless they involve criminal matters. However, the alleged threat to life prompted the involvement of law enforcement authorities.

Police have since intervened in the matter and advised both parties to maintain the status quo pending further resolution of the dispute.
