The Vice Chancellor of Abia State University has officially put an end to the practice of issuing statements of results. This also means the administration has reviewed the validity of previously issued statements for all its academic programs.
This decision was communicated through a memorandum signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu, dated August 1, 2023, and released on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Acho Elendu, the institution said that from December 1st, 2023, the old statement of results will no longer be valid.
The statement reads, “This is to inform all and higher degree graduates of the Abia State University (from the inception of the university in 1981 to date) that following the resolution of the Senate of the university, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, has approved the stoppage of the Statement of Results already issued for all programs offered in the university.
“Henceforth, all first and higher degree statements of results already issued by the university shall cease to be valid from December 1, 2023, in line with global standards.
“The university management has made it a matter of deliberate policy that certificates of graduation are signed and made ready for collection immediately upon approval of results. All valid applications for certificates are treated expeditiously upon clearance and payment of the appropriate fee.
“Therefore, all First and Higher Degree Graduates of the Abia State University who still possess the Statement of Results are enjoined in their own interest to apply for and obtain their Original Degree Certificate from the University, as such a Statement of Results will no longer be a valid academic document from the University on December 1, 2023”.
