FG declares Friday public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, said the Federal Government rejoiced with Nigerians Muslims in the joyous occasion.

The statement quoted the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as declaring the day work free on behalf of the Federal Government ho made the proclamation on behalf of the Federal Government.

Ojo urged the Muslim community to emulate the Prophet’s principles of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, emphasizing that these ideals are essential for fostering a united and progressive nation.

The minister also encouraged Nigerians of all beliefs to utilize this occasion to pray for the peace, security, and stability of the nation while supporting governmental initiatives aimed at national cohesion and sustainable development.

“The observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid presents us with another chance to strengthen the ties of brotherhood, advocate for peaceful coexistence, and embrace the Prophet’s teachings of mutual respect and selfless service to humanity,” Ojo added.

He urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant regarding security, and supportive of government policies designed to enhance the welfare of all Nigerians, while wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
