The names of the 20 medical and dental students, reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State along with a House Officer have been released.

SaharaReporters reported earlier on Friday that over 20 medical and dental students and a House Officer were kidnapped in Benue State while en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.
The students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were travelling together when they were ambushed by gunmen around 5:30pm in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

The State Police Command confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Friday morning, sparking concerns for the safety of the abducted students.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students has released the names of the kidnapped students.

They are according to the list: Boniface Tizhe, Thomas Yahaya, Gabriel Jita Iwev, Boniface Okon, Dondo Fabian, John Bitrus Naga, Fortune Chima Umeh, Godwin Gregory Tumba, Monica Ejembi,”

Others are “Ogbonna George Chukwuebuka, Paul Nyampa Zira, Lawrence Victory Adaugo, Okopi Peter, Enger Benedicta, Kwaghaondo Aondona Kingsley, Paul Shantong, Victoria Cornelius, Pius Samson, Okan Adara and Dr. Luis Mmbamonyeukwu a House Officer.”

SaharaReporters, however, could not immediately ascertain whether the name of the driver of the vehicle conveying the students is part of the list.
