Farida Abdulkabir, a popular socialite in Lagos State better known as Farida Sobowale, has apologized to her children for trying to jump into a lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The owner of Phreedah Body Care and Spa in Surulere, Lagos, was seen getting calmed down by many guys in a video clip that went viral on Thursday night, with her black Sport Utility car parked next to her.
In the video, the rescuers could be seen holding the businesswoman and trying to talk her out of killing herself.
Abdulkabir was ultimately hauled away in her car and driven to an unspecified location.
However, she attributed her failed suicide attempt to her marriage to another Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja.
She stated, “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.
“It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me bore children for him.
“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.
“I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife.”
Farida was married to Okulaja in a grand marriage about two months ago.
However, she and her estranged hubby have engaged in altercations on social media, revealing family secrets and calling each other unprintable names.
