The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across the country in a move aimed at boosting morale, rewarding diligence, and enhancing personnel welfare within the Nigeria Police Force.
According to a statement issued by the Force Headquarters on Saturday, the promotion exercise covers officers serving in Commands and Formations nationwide. The beneficiaries include 165 Sergeants elevated to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals promoted to Sergeant, and 17,714 Constables advanced to the rank of Corporal.
The Inspector-General noted that timely promotion remains a vital component of the Force’s human resource management strategy, stressing that career advancement serves as a key motivation for officers in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
IGP Disu said the promotion of deserving personnel underscores the commitment of the current Police leadership to merit, professionalism, career progression, and institutional development.
Congratulating the newly promoted officers, the police chief urged them to view their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, discipline, professionalism, and dedication to service. He further charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, respect human rights, and remain committed to the rule of law.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to rewarding hard work, promoting excellence, and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global best practices in policing.
