The Nigeria Labour Congress has commenced planned protest against subsidy removal across the various states of nation.
Officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress, representatives of civil society groups alongside concerned citizens are currently marching towards the Federal Secretariat and National Assembly in a bid to express their displeasure against the hike in fuel price and failure of the Tinubu administration to reverse “unfriendly policies targeted against the poor”.
The unionists who had in their hand’s placards with various inscriptions such as #BringBackOurRefineries; #LetThePoorBreathe; #ALUTACONTINUA have blocked the roads leading to the Federal High Court, Transcorp Hotel; Federal Secretariat Phase 1 among others.
In Lagos State the organised labour assembled at Ikeja under-bridge earlier in the morning and are currently marching to the state House of Assembly.
Members of the Katsina State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress on joined their counterparts in observing the nationwide protest against the hardships being experienced by Nigerians due to some recent government policies among which was the removal of fuel subsidy.
The members, among who were those from various affiliated unions, had converged on the state headquarters, along Kano Road. They were about to embark on the protest march when this report was filed.
