The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the commencement of recruitment of graduates and postgraduates for enlistment into the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 34/2025, calling on qualified Nigerian to apply.

The announcement was contained in notice signed by Air Vice Marshal AH Bakari, on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, and posted on the NAF’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, stating that the application process was free of charge and open online at www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng.

According to the guidelines, applicants are expected to carefully study the specific disciplines required on the portal before completing their forms. On completion, candidates must print out an acknowledgment form, a parent/guardian consent form, and a local government attestation form.

The attestation form, NAF explained, must be signed by a military officer not below the rank of Wing Commander, a police officer not below Assistant Commissioner, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.

The NAF stressed that only Nigerian citizens by birth are eligible to apply. Applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 32 years, except for medical doctors (consultants) who may apply between the ages of 25 and 40.

“Personnel above 32 years of age are not eligible to apply,” the force noted, adding that applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and free from any previous criminal convictions. Male applicants must not be less than 1.66m tall, while females must be at least 1.63m.

For serving personnel, the NAF clarified that recommendations must come from commanding officers, and such applicants must have served for at least five years and attained the rank of Corporal.

Academic and Professional Requirements
The statement further revealed that interested candidates must possess at least a Second Class Lower Division for degree holders and Upper Credit for HND holders. A Master’s degree or computer literacy, as well as membership in relevant professional bodies, will be considered added advantages.

“In addition, applicants must possess credit in English Language and Mathematics as well as three additional credits in subjects related to their course of study,” the NAF explained.

Medical applicants are also required to provide certificates of registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria, while all applicants must present either a discharge certificate or a letter of exemption from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Online registration begins Wednesday, 27 August 2025 and closes on Tuesday, 7 October 2025. A zonal aptitude test will follow on a date to be announced later through the recruitment portal.
