Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight suspected land grabbers who have been harassing legitimate land owners in Odesegolu village in the state.
The suspects, identified as Akeem Rabiu, Ayodele Nureni, Wasiu Olamilekan, Abiodun Adeoye, Samuel Abayomi, Sesan Badejo, Ademola Ajayi, Babafemi Badejo, and Olabayo Jimoh, were arrested with dangerous weapons inside a farm in the village.
On their arrest, the state command spokeswoman, SP Omolola Odutola, stated the Commissioner of Police, Alamatu Abiodun, acted on several complaints that suspected hoodlums were forcefully evicting them from their landed properties.
“The operatives deployed, led by Omosanyi Adeniyi, an Area Commander, Ijebu Ode, placed the affected areas under constant surveillance.
On realizing the presence of miscreants in the affected areas, operatives led by ACP Adeniyi from Mobile Force, Anti-Cultism, Anti-Kidnapping, and Patrol Teams from the area were able to round up eight of them.
“CP Alamatu had, during his maiden speech, promised to help legitimate land owners in the state and bring an end to illegitimate land seizure. The suspects will be charged in court as soon as possible.”
