Against the trending video on social media platforms over the involvement of two Ohafia sons in armed robbery at Nnewi, Anambra State, the Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) World Wide, has moved to verify the report.

The two accused are Chinedu Awa, from Eziafor, and Chibuike (a.k.a. Badoo) from Elu, but his mother hails from Eziafor.

According to the interim President General of the Union, Chief Fab Uche, this became necessary because armed robbery isn’t in the DNA of the Ohafia person.

In this vein, the OIU dispatched Hon Cliff Obia to Eziafor for fact finding. He visited the HRH, Eze Oscar Osonwa, the traditional ruler of the community, who said that he was aware of matter, and said that the Eziafor Development Union (EDU), while discussing it, has divergent opinions, adding that: “While the man from Abuja wanted OIU to take up the matter without recourse to inviting the relations or getting the community involved; another from Lagos, stated that because elections are due, prominent persons who ostensibly would be interested in standing for elections would use the matter as a launching pad for winning elections. Yet another from Port Harcourt insisted that the relations should be brought in.”

The OIU delegate visited the father of Chinedu, an old man who has some hearing impairment, said, Chinedu is an upholsterer and lives at Nnewi to practice his trade.

According to Hon Obia, the old man didn’t seem to know what has happened and so wasn’t informed, but the wife is believed to have heard about it.

He was directed to one Olu Kalu Ebe, a relation of Chinedu’s father, who claimed to have heard of the alleged involvement of Chinedu in robbery. When asked what they have done over the matter, he said, they have initiated moves to secure his bail, adding that: “The boy’s senior brother, Ifeanyi and his sister, Ifeoma, both live in Nnewi, had gone to the police station, but that the Investigative Police Officer (IPO) was not on seat, as he was said to be on another assignment last Tuesday. They were making efforts to take him on bail without Chibuike (a.k.a. Badoo), a known bad boy from Elu.”

However, the Eziafor Development Union is said to be on top of the matter. They are also looking at contacting the Police Spokesman, Enugu, who is from Ohafia to help them contact his colleague at Anambra State to assist in speaking to the Nnewi Division of NPF for their bail.

The EDU commended the OIU National for its concerns and roles over the issue.

The OIU National commended HRH, Eze Oscar Osonwa for the attention given to the delegate during his visit to Eziafor.

For anyone who wants to assist, the number of Chinedu’s relation in Nnewi is: Ifeanyi 08063882205.
