Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti will be the Special Guest of Honour for the Atuegwu Age Grade, Amaekpu – Ohafia, Ibanyi Ogo ceremony.

The event, which holds on Monday, December 29, 2025, by 12pm, at Okpocha Square is to be chaired by Dr. Liberty O. Udochu.
In a press statement, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the age grade, Deacon Okwara Amogu, noted that the highly performing Abia governor, and other dignitaries from various parts of the country will come to bear testimony to the uncommon zeal of “our people towards community development.”
According to Deacon Amogu, the Ibayi Ogo ceremony is a precursor to the traditional retirement of members of the age grade from active community service.
In this vein, he stressed that the community has assigned a retirement project for the age grade, which is 1.1km cement concrete road, with side drainages that was estimated to cost N85 million in January, 2025.
One of the major highlights of the ceremony, he pointed out, is the conferment of Awards to some great patriots from Ohafia and beyond, who from the private ranks, have impacted positively in the lives of people and communities.
