The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 952 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPs). However, the Commission rejected the promotion of 176 officers who have retired and three others suspected to have died.

The decision was part of the resolutions reached at the first plenary meeting of the 6th Board of the Commission, held at its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd, mni), congratulated the newly elevated officers but cautioned them to uphold nationalism, discipline, and strict adherence to service regulations.

He stressed that the Commission would no longer condone diversionary or unauthorized actions by serving officers, warning them to always use established channels to express grievances.

Argungu assured officers of the Commission’s commitment to protecting their career progression, ensuring fairness and transparency in promotions.

Some of the officers promoted include Maidawa Yakubu, Edwin Thomas, Grace Okon, Rose Bassey, Fidelis Offorbuike, Elvina Ochia Chukwu (FCID Special Fraud Unit, Lagos), Kyrian Igwe (Enugu Command), Ndidiamaka Onwude (Ebonyi Command), Rosemary Obianuju Egbo (Delta State Command), Tabitha Gotan, Uya Bassey Johnson (Abia Command), Elizabeth Ajik (FCID-NPFNCC), Sunday Prince Ajaegbu (Force HQ Abuja), and Deborah Danjuma (SPU Base 7, Abuja) among others.

The Commission’s approval has been formally conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation in a letter signed by its Secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
