The Kano State Police Command has confirmed a heart-wrenching tragedy in Karkari village, Gwarzo Local Government Area, where a widow and her five children met a devastating end after consuming Danwake, a beloved local Hausa delicacy.

In a chilling account, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, revealed that all six family members were rushed to Gwarzo General Hospital, but tragically, doctors could only declare them dead upon arrival.

An investigation is underway to unravel the grim circumstances surrounding their untimely deaths. “We are currently awaiting the medical report from the hospital to establish the cause of death for these six lives,” he stated.

The tragedy unfolded last Thursday, when the widow, who was the sole provider for her children, unwittingly prepared the meal with expired cassava flour.

Those who lost their lives include Alhakatu Abdulkarim and her five innocent children: Bashir, Firdausi, Hafsat, Usman, and Jamilu.
