Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Kingsley Achugbu, 35 for allegedly defiling his 2-year-old daughter and also sexually harassed his domestic servant.
According to the State Police spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, police operatives attached to Festac division acted on the report by his house maid who came in company of one Mrs. Justina Nelson of Children and Vulnerable Persons Network, a Non-Governmental Organization.
According to a police source, the house maid summoned courage and reported the matter to the NGO when she noticed that the little baby under her care was been defiled by his father.
Achugbu was arrested while the two-year-old had been taken to the hospital for medical examination.
Reacting to the alleged arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu ordered that the matter be transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He also appealed to the general public to always report all cases of sexual harassment and assault and domestic-based violence to the police or any available relevant government agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations for necessary action in order to get rid of the societal menaces in the state.
