A 2-year-old boy who was abducted in Kano State has been rescued unharmed by police, following an intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of most of the ransom paid.

The incident occurred on April 19, 2026, in Gwammaja Quarters, Dala Local Government Area, where the child was reportedly taken in front of his family residence by unidentified persons. According to police, the kidnappers later contacted the family and demanded a ransom of ₦1 million. The amount was paid, but the child was not released.
Police authorities said the case was promptly reported, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to direct the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to launch an operation using intelligence and technical tracking methods. The effort led operatives to a hideout within the same community.

Three suspects—Hassan Umar (26), tAbdullahi Hamisu (19), and Hussaini Saminu (24)—were arrested in connection with the crime. Investigators said the child was found at the residence of one of the suspects and was rescued without injuries. He has since been reunited with his family.
Police also recovered ₦930,000, believed to be part of the ransom paid.
In a statement, the Commissioner of Police commended the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for what he described as professionalism and tactical precision. He also acknowledged support from the office of IGP.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion. The police reiterated their commitment to tackling kidnapping and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
